Turned the central heating on after being off for 6 months. Nothing worked. Knew the wife would notice on her return. Thought the boiler was broken until I remembered I had manually turned all the radiators off during the endless summer heatwaves. Phew.

@andyc Gonna have to ask ... why?

@JigsawPieces@mastodon.social Why ? My wife thinks 20'C is 'freezing'. I could probably live without any central heating all year round and put a jumper on.

@andyc I'd probably agree with your wife! But I'm super-sensitive to the cold currently.

I just didn't know what difference turning the radiators off when the heating was already off would make, so wanted to check what I was missing ...

@JigsawPieces@mastodon.social Oh sorry. We had some weird problem when some radiators would get warm/hot - even when the central heating was turned off. Not just the towel rail in the bathroom which now ironically is the only radiator which used to be scalding hot but is now obstinately stone cold. Go figure.

@andyc Mystery solved! Thanks.
