Pondering on the following:-
-
It must be very difficult to design a Mastodon (or any) client without being coloured and influenced by the 157 pre-existing clients. A little like trying to write a song or a guitar riff without ripping off the Beatles. Never stopped Oasis though.

There are plenty of brilliant technical folk. Over the years, I've worked with many. However, some (I wouldn't say most) tend to be quite narrow in outlook i.e. they are purely database or network administrators, architects, security experts, Web designers or mobile developers. Brilliant and highly skilled in their specific domain. However, not many of them are skilled in all areas and have no interest whatsoever in changing that.
Great. @david@davidmarsden.info has finally woken up and responded to my 'Follow' request. Consequently he now takes his rightful place in the 'Inner Circle of Trust' list.
No one ever writes into the show and asks 'But Andy, where is the drug crazed zombie caked in flour ? What's with this new profile pic ?'
I am a bear of little brain so need different avatars while I continue my detailed reconciliation testing between Mastodon and LittleFedi.
The new avatar is the cover of The Chameleons marvellous album 'Strange Times'.

@jack@social.baty.net Yes. That also struck me. It could be used for quick disposable, old fashioned toots (microblogging), 'Notes' or a full blown blog post. A one-stop shop for the entire stream of consciousness.
#LittleFedi enhancement request.
Mastodon (or Tusky) listed Friend (Follows) with properties that helped pruning inactive, dead accounts (Last active, Posts, Relationship) and supported bulk operations. Would be nice to have this search and filtering functionality in LittleFedi.
Normally it's a quiet appreciative nod across a crowded room in a hostelry. Not this time. Looks accusingly at @basil@sarcasm.stream
I note that sometimes the #Tusky timeline lags my #LittleFedi Web interface despite what I thought was a forced refresh.
However, the responsive LittleFedi Web interface renders so brilliantly on mobile devices, I'm not sure this is much of an issue. Just curious if other folk see this behaviour.
#LittleFedi includes a powerful CLI that allows administrators to perform any operation available in the GUI. Useful for management and scripting.

@andyc Completely expunged all traces of msmtp, the LittleFedi configuration, the associated systemd services and the Google apps password.
I was incredibly frustrated and irritated at how complex and time consuming this seemingly simple task was. Although it finally happens to 'work', I am very uncomfortable as I don't understand it at all so I don't want any of these processes running on my little public facing server.
Hopefully, as the software and (excellent) documentation matures, simple, easy to follow, idiot proof tutorials will emerge.
I have conquered today's mission of getting #LittleFedi to send email notifications. Took another 3 hours and I couldn't possibly document the process or hope to reproduce it in a clean environment but still.
Ah now I remember. One of my reservations of a lonely, isolated single instance was discovery and search on a global basis, having to mess about with relays but https://tags.pub/ should help with this.
However, when I follow @littlefedi@tags.pub from #LittleFedi, it just says 'Follow requested' whereas on Mastodon (4.6.9) it works instantly.
Any ideas @evan@cosocial.ca ?
@chrism@social.nfbsd.dev @stefano@bsd.cafe
Yes. @Bastianoso@mastodon.social He discovered that icecubes works OK.
