Gnome boxes had various irritating problems. Trying raw KVM/QEMU which seems closer to VirtualBox. [Yes, I am aware Boxes is just a FE to KVM/QEMU]
@chainq@mastodon.social @littlefedi_official@littleone.littlefedi.social I run a vanilla, OOTB #LittleFedi on Ubuntu using Caddy as the reverse proxy. What is your OS and RP ? I follow a few accounts on mastodon.social with no issues. I presume the 401 errors come from the LF log file ?
sudo journalctl -u littlefedi -f
@andyc Hmm. Installing Debian on Gnome Boxes seems very sluggish. Not sure if it's the network or the disk element...
Oracle VirtualBox has broken again after yet another update. The dependency on Virtual Box additions to actually make it useful (copy/paste) is another time consuming irritation.
Now to evaluate Gnome Boxes and KVM/QEMU.

cancer health
I was casually flicking TV channels last night and happened across Rhod Gilbert's story of his treatment for head and neck cancer back in 2022. I had a similar minor health issue back in 2011 (bowel cancer) and although it's 15 years ago now and thankfully I'm still here, I really identified with Rhod Gilbert's story.
People who have no experience of serious life changing or health issues probably thought - 'Why is this big, grown man constantly in tears ? He's a comedian for God's sake'.
I was exactly the same as Rhod Gilbert and rapidly developed the emotional fragility of an egg.
- When I completed my 30 successive days of radiotherapy, I had built up a relationship with the radiographers so I bought the team some biscuits. Like Rhod Gilbert, I was completely in pieces as I said 'Thank you' and 'Goodbye' and they were so kind and understanding.
- Thankfully, I didn't have a bell to ring or friends and family waiting outside the hospital after I completed treatment and left hospital but I empathised with Rhod Gilbert as he made his short speech.
- When he got the 'all clear' but was told he would just need a scan on an anomaly near the lymph node in his throat, he didn't celebrate and feel happy. Understandably, he was now obsessed with and dreading this next precautionary scan in 3 months (which was clear).
- My equivalent was completing treatment (surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy) and having the portacath (device used to dispense chemo or antibiotics) removed from my chest. The male nurse said 'I guess this must be quite a milestone for you'. Again, he was uncannily accurate and set me off yet again in the preparation area.
Gilbert closed his documentary with a dedication - 'Thanks to all the friends, family, the marvellous doctors and nurses in the NHS and cancer patients past and present'.
My sudden and unexpected conversion to Christianity certainly reaped dividends.
I even managed to transfer the SIM card and it was compatible size wise.
iPhone upgrade complete. Inevitably had to purge icloud storage but all apps and data transferred.
Score 200 brownie points. Go directly to the hostelry!
The only member of my extended friends and family circle who use my IT and phone technical support services is my son. He has an Android phone and never needs any help. Everyone else - flipping iPhones.
Kingstonian FC have done what they do at least once a season and sacked the manager.
Visiting mother in law. Operation 'iPhone migration' is underway. Her 10 year old iPhone SEs battery life is 47 minutes apparently.
On the train. Got a seat. Praise be to the Lord!

Getting train into London. It is raining cats and dogs. A lady screams at travellers - 'Jesus Christ is not dead. Jesus Christ is risen, Jesus Christ is coming to rescue all the sinners'
I said to the lady in front of me - 'Well I hope Jesus is going to make the 09:54 arrive on time'.
Manchester United players are enjoying a pre-planned day off after their exertions last night and the oh so tiring flight back from Italy. Christ - that just about says it all.
I installed #GoToSocial alongside LittleFedi as a standby and testing instance. Today I managed to successfully upgrade GTS to 0.22.3. Another high quality, lightweight, performant ActivityPub platform.

Always enjoyed Michael Palin's work (Monty Python, travel shows, books). Sorry to hear he recently fell over and had to cancel his Philippines book tour.
'It was a comedy fall with no audience there to see it. I shall stick to fish slapping dances from now on'.

Well I was always led to believe the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything was '42'.
Turns out it was close but much simpler - '4'.
